DISTRIBUTION OF THE THRUST FORCES
2. The diagram in fig. 20-1 is of a typical single spool axial flow turbo-jet engine and illustrates wherever the most forward and rearward forces act. The origin of those forces is explained by following the engine operating cycle shown partly two. At the beginning of the cycle, air is induced into the engine and is compressed. The rearward accelerations through the mechanical device stages and also the resultant pressure rise aircraft engineering produces an oversize reactive force in a very forward direction. On the following stage of its journey the air passes through the diffuse wherever it exerts atiny low reactive force, conjointly in a very forward direction, aircraft engineering.
4. From the diffuse the air passes into the combustion chambers (Part 4) wherever it’s heated aircraft engineering, and within the resultant enlargement and acceleration of the gas massive forward forces are exerted on the chamber walls aircraft engineering.
